1. the act or process of navigating.
2. the art or science of figuring out the position and course of a ship, aircraft, or rocket. This may be done by making various calculations based on the triangle or the arc after making certain measurements of distance in relation to the position of a craft to heavenly bodies, radio beacons, landmarks, etc.
